Are you planning a trip to LA? Ever wanted to be part of a a live audience on TV? How about attending an award show? A visit to LA couldn’t be complete without doing one or the other!

Whether you’re looking for a 30-minute sitcom or a full-on glitzy gala, here are a few options to choose from if you want to be in the audience in Los Angeles.

1. Award Shows

There are a few award shows that the general public can attend. Some have the same settings every year while other might take on a different format.

2. American Music Awards

An annual award show usually taped around November. The winners are chosen by the public as well as industry insiders. The show is flashy with lots of current musicians attending. Only a few awards are given on camera, making it more about the live performances. Past AMA’s artists include LMFAO, Kelly Clarkson, Nicky Minaj and more. Tickets are usually available on Ticketmaster.

3. People’s Choice Awards

Honoring artists from popular culture, the People’s Choice Awards are held in January and are decided by the public in an online voting. Categories include “favorite son”, “favorite celebrity judge” and “favorite movie icon”. Tickets are usually available on Ticketmaster

4. The Oscars

Ok, it is not possible to be in the audience during the biggest night in Hollywood, but there is a slight chance (emphasize on the “slight”) you might be able to score a red carpet bleacher seat tix. During fall, the Organization opens up a global lottery in which you can enroll and win one of the 700 hundred spots. They receive around 20000 applications each year, but you never know! The ceremony is held in February.

5. TV Shows

Several TV series are taped live in front of an audience, and you’re invited! The shows often rely on a company to arrange the tickets for them. Here are 3 popular ones:

4 words: The Price Is Right! If you want to try your luck at winning a new bagel toaster or a new car, get yourself to a taping of the ever popular TV game show! Other options include Chelsea Lately, American Idol, Let’s Make a Deal and many more. Last-minute tickets are often available but you’ll have better opportunities if you look ahead.

The to-go site for tickets to Jimmy Kimmel ,The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and The Voice. 1iota also offers tickets to special events like the MTV Video Music Awards and the NFL Draft.

Audience Unlimited
A few live tapings to choose from, including Hot In Cleveland and Melissa & Joey. They work with several studios around LA. Tickets are usually available up to one month before taping.

How to Get Tickets

Usually most tickets can be. Obtained online and are completely free. Also sometimes you can be wandering around tourist hotspots like Hollywood and crew from shows will offer the chance to attend live audience shows if they are running low of numbers. Maybe you’ll get lucky.
