St. Ermin's Hotel, Autograph Collection

Looking for a luxurious place to stay in Central London?

Sometimes you just need to splash out a little when it comes to accommodation, especially when you’re staying in a capital city as glitzy as London. You’re going to want something bursting with history, filled with luxurious touches and with the best of London just outside the front door.

The gorgeous St. Ermin’s Hotel, Marriott Autograph Collection, is a 4 star luxury hotel on Caxton Street in London’s central district of Westminster.

Location

St. Ermin’s Hotel is in an amazing location just a stone’s throw away from major London attractions such as the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament.

The city’s most famous shopping streets – including Regent Street, Bond Street, Oxford Circus and Carnaby Street – are just a short walk away. If you want a night out on the town, it’s just a brief ride in a taxi or a hop on the tube to the best of the West End’s theatres, the mixed delights of Soho and the stylish drinking dens of Covent Garden. From the front doors of the hotel, it’s only 100 metres to the St James’s Park tube station.

The hotel is positioned near the capital’s three biggest central parks, where there is plenty of green space to find tranquillity in the middle of this vast city. Take a walk to Buckingham Palace through Green Park, perhaps feed the ducks in St. James’s, or wander a little further to circle the Serpentine in Hyde Park.

Building and Character

This is the perfect place to find luxury. A fascinating blend of old and new, the building dates back hundreds of years and boasts a character and atmosphere to show for it. The building itself dates back hundreds of years – as do most of those in this part of the city – but has an unusual character and atmosphere that shows how it has changed over time.

With a Grade II listed building status, the glamorous St. Ermin’s now stands on the foundations of what was once a 15th century chapel. You may even find yourself sleeping in a room once occupied by a member of the British intelligence services or Winston Churchill’s Special Operations Executive.

In the late 1800s, famous theatre designer J.P. Briggs created the elegant interior you see today, with its elaborate rococo ceilings, glittering chandeliers, Art Nouveau plasterwork and breath-taking, double height ballroom. There’s certainly a lot of ‘wow factor’ at St. Ermin’s.

Rooms

Each of the 331 rooms and suites comes with a LED television and entertainment system, fine bed linen, fluffy bathrobes, 24-hour room service and tea and coffee making facilities as standard.

The gorgeous White Company bathroom products will keep you in the shower longer than you anticipated! Upgrade to one of the elegant suites and you’ll have a canopied bed, separate lounge and bedroom, huge marble bathroom and tons of space with fantastic views over leafy London.

Food

The hotel’s Caxton Grill is a fantastic dining destination for guests and non-guests alike and uniquely, a number of the dishes use urban honey from the hotel’s rooftop bee colony. A recent development in the kitchen is the installation of a ground-breaking Josper Grill.

Only the second to open in the whole of London, it’s a special type of closed barbecue that cooks food over charcoal but the door closes like an oven to stop any moisture escaping. The Josper Grill cooks food super-fast and super-hot at temperatures of around 300 °C to produce juicy, tender meat and other dishes that taste out of this world.

Cost

Prices aren’t cheap and if you are on a budget rooms here are likely to be out of your price range. If you do have a little more flexibility, this hotel really is a fantastic place to stay in central London.
