Street food market

Luang Prabang is one of my favourite cities in Asia. I personally think that it’s one of the most beautiful city in Asia. It’s laidback, picturesque and affordable. I could easily picture myself spending months living while working online in this small city.

One of my favourite things to do when I was in Luang Prabang was to visit the night market and eat a variety of sumptuous street foods.

Here are some of my favourites:

1. Fruit Shakes

There’s a lot of choices when it comes to mix fruit shakes in Luang Prabang. My personal favourite is pineapple, banana and mango.

2. Banana Roti

Banana Roti is one of my favourite snacks in Southeast Asia. But it’s not the only option available, you can also try roti with peanut butter, chocolate or just plain roti with sweet milk.

3. Baguette

Of all the baguettes that I’ve tried in this trip, the ones in Luang Prabang are my favourite. Chicken, cheese and vegetable is my top pick. There’s a variety of options to choose from. Another popular choice among backpackers is bacon and cheese.

4. Pastries

Sweet mini cakes are also available for those who loves them and as well as locally made pastries.

5. Lao Coffee

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Lao Coffee although I forgot to try it when I was in Luang Prabang. I always find myself buying fruit shakes whenever I go to the night market.

6. Boiled Egg

Though I’m not a big fan of balut (boiled duck egg with fertilized embryo or duck fetus), I do like boiled quailed eggs. It reminds me of “tukneneng” which is boiled quail eggs covered with an orange batter and deep fried which I used to buy in the streets of Manila.

In case you visit Laos in the near future, don’t miss to try out the street foods in Luang Prabang night market.
