1. Tintagel Ruins, Tintagel
King Arthur’s legacies live on in Tintagel where crumbled ruins of his castle lie camouflaged atop Cornish coves. The spot is truly spectacular as you make your way along the cliffs edge using your imagination to visualise how majestic it would have been in its day. Dotted around the site you’ll find a series of panels which “reveal 1500 years of Tintagel’s past – from a royal stronghold, to thriving trading port, to a castle of romantic stories”. Paying homage to the setting sun makes for breathtaking views, whilst thoughts turn to evening merriment. Quaint bars pay witness to meaningful chats, re-capturing the essence of these ancient tales.

2. The Eden Project, St Austell
The Eden Project sits within the Cornish countryside like a giant extra-terrestrial spacecraft! Bio-domes create standalone environments encased in large plastic bubbles, home to plants from all parts of the world. Saunter through the more tropical climes of the Rainforest Biome, exploring intriguing coffee plantations, the way chocolate grows and other steamy exploits.
This magnetic attraction was borne out of a disused clay mine and is brimming with life. They have plenty of events year round, with such things as story telling and massage treatments in ‘hot spots’ of the tropics!
3. National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Falmouth
Sitting overlooking the stunning Falmouth Harbour, this is the perfect location for an exploration into all ‘sea’ related topics. The iconic building is home to many exciting exhibitions, such as the story of Captain Bligh (which is a far cry from the Hollywood depiction), and even a British Tattoo show which runs until the 7th January 2018. There is also a wide range of galleries which take you “on a journey through the overwhelming influence of the sea on history and culture”. Once you’ve learned everything you want to know, you can head down to Falmouth’s pretty harbour for a dose of the real thing!
4. Land’s End, Nr Penzance
Without question autumn is a stunning time of year to head to the UK’s most westerly point… Land’s End! Wildlife, coastal walks, spectacular photo opportunities and breathtaking sunsets all scream “come visit”! And when you start to feel a bit chilly from the fresh Cornish sea air, duck into the Land’s End restaurant for a homemade Cornish Cream Tea… or maybe you’d prefer a Cornish pasty? Yum! They say this the Lands End Landmark is one of the most ‘Instagrammable’ locations in the UK and once you’re here you’ll see why. Standing next to the iconic signpost for a selfie should definitely be on your bucket list this autumn!
5. Tate St Ives, St Ives
St Ives, England is one of the places to explore when visiting England. Tate St Ives opened its doors to the public a few days ago on the 15th October, after 2 years of being closed during a £20million refurb. It was reported that thousands were queuing down the street to be among the first to explore the changes. The Tate St Ives’ white-washed walls are a treasure chest of creative gems and now boasts double the exhibition space than before.
A spokesperson for the gallery said: “For the first time, Tate St Ives will be able to give a permanent presence to those 20th century artists who lived and worked in the town, demonstrating the role of St Ives in the story of modern art.”
6. Fistral Beach, Newquay
Your visit to Cornwall wouldn’t be complete without a walk along the beach for some fresh sea air… whatever the weather! And what better beach to pick other than Newquay’s iconic year-round surfing hot-spot, Fistral Beach. Experienced surfers will catch the bigger autumnal waves which make exciting spectacles as they show off their skills. Any ‘wipe-outs’ can be quite amazing to watch too! Wrap up warm and if you’re lucky you may catch it on a crisp sunny day which, let’s face it, makes for much nicer pictures to take away as souvenirs of your brisk beach walk!
